Remove laptop battery

STEP 1

Turn the unit upside down.
Remove screws securing the Wi-Fi card cover and the hard drive cover.
Remove the Wi-Fi card cover and the hard drive cover.

 

   
Dismantle Toshiba Satellite A70 A75 laptop

STEP 2

Loosen the metal brace screw. Remove the metal brace and the wireless card.
Remove the hard drive.
Remove the battery.

   
Remove laptop DVD drive

STEP 3

Remove one screw securing the DVD drive.

 

   
Take apart Toshiba laptop

STEP 4

Remove the DVD drive.

   
Disassemble Toshiba Satellite laptop

STEP 5

That's my favorite :)
Remove all screw on the bottom.

   
Removing laptop keyboard

STEP 6

Turn the laptop right side up.
Insert a thin object under the securing strip and lift it up.
Be careful, it may be very tight.

   
Remove notebook keyboard

STEP 7

Remove the securing strip.

   
Remove laptop keyboard

STEP 8

Remove two screws securing the keyboard.
Press on the lock in the center to release the keyboard.

 

 

Remove notebook keyboard

STEP 9

Lift the keyboard off the base.

 
 
 
Disconnect laptop keyboard

STEP 10

Disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board and remove the keyboard.
Attention! Be very careful when you are disconnecting the keyboard cable from the motherboard. You have to unlock the connector before pulling out the keyboard cable. If the keyboard connector gets damaged, you'll have to replace the motherboard.

   
Dismantle laptop

STEP 11

Remove two screws securing the the hinges on the back of the computer.

   
Disconnect laptop video cable

STEP 12

Turn the computer right side up.
Remove the Wi-Fi cable from the route.
Disconnect the LCD cable on system board.
Remove two screws securing the hinges.

   
Remove LCD screen

STEP 13

Lift the display assembly off the base.

   
Take apart laptop

STEP 14

Remove 6 screw securing the top cover.
Disconnect the speaker cables on the system board.
Disconnect the flat touchpad cable on the system board.

   
Disassemble laptop

STEP 15

Using a guitar pick, carefully separate the top cover from the base.

   
Remove top cover assembly

STEP 16

Lift the top cover off the base.

   
Remove laptop PC card

STEP 17

Do not forget to remove "dummy" PC card.

 

Removing laptop system board

STEP 18

Remove four hex screws on the back of the base.

 
 
 
Dismantle laptop

STEP 19

Remove two scres securing the system board to the base.

   
Remove notebook system board

STEP 20

Carefully remove the system board from the base.
Here are some tips for removing the motherboard. 1. Push the PC card slot button and lift up the left side of the board. 2. Carefully pry the right side of the case and release the volume wheel, audio jacks and USB port. 3. Lift up both side of the motherboard and remove it from the base.

   
Remove laptop modem

STEP 21

Remove two screws securing the modem card.
Remove the modem card.

 

   
Remove laptop cooling fan

STEP 22

Remove four screws securing the fans.

   
Clean cooling fan

STEP 23

Hold the fans and turn the system board back over.
Disconnect the CPU fan cables on the system board.
Remove fans.

   
Remove laptop heatsink

STEP 24

Remove four screws with springs securing the cooling module.
Carefully lift the cooling module off the CPU.

   
Remove laptop CPU

STEP 25

Turn the CPU lock to unlock position. Carefully lift off the CPU.
Attention! When you are assembling the laptop, make sure the CPU is seated properly and is LOCKED inside the socket on the motherboard. If you forget to lock the CPU, the laptop will not start. Do not forget apply new thermal grease on the CPU. Without thermal grease the laptop will overheat and shut down.

   
Replace laptop system board

STEP 26

DONE!!!
If you are removing the motherboard because of a broken power jack then most likely you'll need a new jack.
