STEP 2

Remove six screws securing the hard drive cover and the heatsink covers.

Remove three screws securing the CPU heatsink to the system board.
Carefully lift off the heatsink off the laptop CPU.

STEP 5

The heatsink is 100% clogged with lint.
If your heatsink is clogged, clean the heatsink with a canned air to prevent your laptop from overheating.

STEP 6

The DVD drive is secured to the laptop by two screws.
Remove two screws and slide the DVD drive out of the notebook base.

STEP 7

Remove all screws marked by red circles.

STEP 8

Place the laptop the right side up.
Using a sharp object lift up the keyboard securing strip.

STEP 9

Lift off the keyboard securing strip and remove it from the laptop.

STEP 10

Remove three screws and the keyboard lock in the center securing the keyboard to the laptop base.

STEP 11

Turn the keyboard over and put it on the palmrest.
Remove one screw securing a metal plate over the keyboard connector and remove it.

STEP 12

Unplug the keyboard cable from the connector on the notebook main board.

STEP 13

Remove one screw and remove a metal plate covering the wireless network card.

STEP 14

Disconnect the right and left speaker cables on the system board.
Disconnect the LCD switch cable on the system board.
Disconnect the wireless card antenna cables and remove the wireless card from the socket on the system board.

STEP 15

Remove two screws securing the CD player board to the laptop base.

STEP 16

To disconnect the CD player board, turn it over.
Unlock the connector and unplug the cable.
Remove the board.

STEP 17

Remove both memory modules.
Disconnect the laptop display cable on the system board.
Remove four screws securing the top cover and display assembly to the laptop base.

STEP 18

Start removing the top cover and display assembly from the back of the notebook.

STEP 19

Lift off the top cover assembly and remove it from the base.

STEP 21

Remove two LCD mask seals covering the screws.
Remove two screws securing the LCD mask.

STEP 22

Put your finger between the LCD mask and the display and carefully unlock the latches securing the mask.

STEP 23

Work with your fingers to unlock all latches and remove the LCD mask.

STEP 24

Remove four screws securing the LCD screen to the display cover.
Remove the LCD screen and place it on the palmrest.

STEP 25

Remove the tape covering the LCD video cable connector.
Unplug the cable on the back of the LCD screen.
Lift off the LCD screen and remove it.

STEP 26

Remove one screw securing the FL inverter board to the display cover and disconnect cables on both ends of the inverter.
Remove the FL inverter.

STEP 27

Remove two plastic LCD hinge covers.

STEP 28

The left hinge is broken, so I will remove it piece by piece.
Remove two screws securing the laptop hinge to the LCD cover.
The top screw is hidden under the seal on the side of the LCD assembly.

STEP 29

Remove the top part of the broken hinge.

STEP 30

Close the lid and turn the laptop over.
Remove the mylar cover from the hinge.

STEP 31

Remove two screws securing the hinge to the top cover.

STEP 32

Remove the second broken piece.

STEP 33

All done! Now you can install a new hinge.
